Giving to Santa

Today we read a few Christmas books and one of the themes was giving back, so the kids wrote about what they would give to Santa! Check out the amazing writing from Ty! Great work! It was great to hear all of the ideas they had, from giving him pets to giving him toys, ask your child what they wrote about today. 

Field Trip: Farm to Table

We had an AMAZING field trip today! The Farm to Table program was so organized, the kids were hands on, made some great projects and learned great new facts! Here are some pictures. Everything from milking a cow, making paper to frosty tag!

In Readers Workshop we have been talking about another reading strategy called visualizing. Good readers visualize while they read, it helps develop good reading comprehension. Watch this video to learn what visualizing is from our class.

Label Lesson

One of my favorite lessons in beginning Writing Workshop it learning about labeling. We learn to label pictures and use strategies such as looking at the beginning sounds to read the labels.
