A must watch video for parents.

Social media is beginning younger and younger. "Children have the knowledge but not the wisdom to use the power of the Internet." Parents, teachers, adults must be proactive and know that just talking to kids is only the beginning. Adults must monitor activity and be aware of what children are doing online. Easy as PIE

Another busy day in second grade today! We learned about Author's Purpose and made a list according to the types of information that the author wanted us to know. persuade inform or entertain PIE! 

We worked with our reading buddies to sort different genres and reading material into the correct category. 

Finally we created our own PIE plate and used old book orders to cut out books and determine why the author wrote the text. It was easy as PIE!

Noun Day

We have been working on the parts of speech and this week we are focusing on NOUNS. 

We sang the noun song from schoolhouse rock and then took a noun scavenger hunt around the building. 

Complete Sentences

2nd Day of 2nd Grade

Today we celebrated the 2nd day of 2nd grade! 

 

We counted by 2, did things twice, and made fun pencil toppers! 

First Day 2015-2016

First day of second grade was a success!!

We read this book...

And then wrote all about their new teacher

Then drank our "jitters" away by reading First Day Jitters and making our own Jitter Juice!

It was a hit! 18 children liked it and only 1 didn't. We graphed and tallied the number of students and had a (hot) great first day!
